A girl selling herself to save classmate

Dan Dan, 22, who studies at a university in Dezhou, Shandong province, is selling her own hand in marriage for £15,000 in a bid to save the life of a classmate.

Her friend Zhang Yuemei has been diagnosed with encephalomyelitis, a disease of the brain and spinal chord.

She has no money for the treatment she needs and without which she will deteriorate into a vegetative state.

"Her parents are all farmers, who are unable to afford sky-high surgery fees and follow-up treatment expenses," explained Dan Dan.

She says she will marry any man prepared to donate the equivalent of £15,000 to cover Zhang's medical treatment.

Critics have accused her of using her friend's plight to find a wealthy husband - but she is being supported by the chief surgeon at Jinan Qilu Hospital.

Snake born with hands

A 68 years old Chinese woman, Xiu Qiong Duan, saw it when she woke up in the middle of the night to find the snake clinging to the wall of her bedroom.

"I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound ... at first I thought it was thieves" she said.

"I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw."

Ms Duan, from Suining in southwest China, said she then grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death.

She reportedly preserved its body in a bottle of alcohol which she gave to the Life Sciences Department at China’s West Normal University in Nanchang.

Snake expert Long Shuai said the discovery of the creature, which is 40cm long and the thickness of a little finger, was "truly shocking".

"We won’t know the cause until we’ve conducted an autopsy," she said.

Teens find fortune fishing

Two teenage brothers went for a fishing trip and had found more than £50,000, after some thinking they decided to hand it over to the police. They also went to source for some legal advice whether to keep the money. Since the money maybe link to some crime.

The boys had been fishing at Tuntable Creek, a waterway near Lismore in the tropical region of far northern New South Wales on Australia's east coast.

The creek is near Nimbin, a small town known as the home of Australia's hippy culture, which hosts an annual MardiGrass festival devoted to promoting the use of cannabis.

The region had recently been affected by huge flooding so the bundle may have come from any number of streams in the area, known as the Northern Rivers region.

According to one of the police inspector if nobody came forward with a legitimate reason for claiming the money, the boys might be able to claim it.
